Education & Training

I hold two Ph.D. degrees – the first in communication was awarded in 1977 by Stanford University, and the second in clinical psychology was awarded in 1993 by the Pacific Graduate School of Psychology, now Palo Alto University, in Palo Alto, California. I also did postdoctoral work in behavioral medicine with the Stanford University School of Medicine, Stanford Heart Disease Prevention Program, and I have over 20 years experience in behavioral medicine and psychotherapy.

I hold a license to practice psychology in both California and Nevada, and I am on several insurance panels including Aetna, Anthem BC/BS, Hometown Health, and Prominence (St. Mary’s.)

Currently I have a small  private practice in Reno, NV. When insurance is not available, I keep my fee low at $125/session to make therapy more accessible.  I accept credit cards as well as checks and cash.

I have authored nine psychological self-help books which have been published by two publishers–Bull Publishing in Colorado, and New Harbinger in California. Click on the Publications tab to learn more.

My specialties include eating disorders (including Binge Eating Disorder, Bulimia*, excessive exercise*, bariatric patients), OCD, phobias, anxiety disorders*, ADD in adults, anger management, depression*, and couple’s issues such as communication problems, difficulties resolving conflict, coping with new challenges such as cheating, money issues, and raising children.

* I see clients 15 and older for eating disorders, depression, and anxiety. I also have experience with clients  who self-harm.
